How Blogging and Twitter Can Shape Job Opportunities
Blogging allows for newcomers in any job field to explore and connect with people beyond their horizons on the internet. Blogging is one of many valuable tools that allows you to put yourself out there and gain a following that can be seen as a valuable asset for possible corporations or businesses that may want to hire you. In the article, How blogging can help grow your net work, it explains that blogging offers value, connections, and building rapport. These three things are important to have when it comes to applying for any job. In my case scenario, I would like to become a teacher, and I believe that blogging and gaining connections with other educators through my blogs can increase my chances of landing a job. And in the event that I do get a teaching job, I can use my platform and the connections I make through blogging to learn tips and skills that can improve my job as an educator. Overall, blogging is a resource that should be taken advantage of because of the many beneficial aspects it has when it comes to job opportunities.
Not only is blogging another resource that can be used to reach a particular audience and create a reputation, but Twitter is also another great tool that will have the same effects. Twitter allows for you to follow and connect with people that have the same interests as you. You can do this by following specific people or hashtags within the criteria you are looking for. Many professions, educators specifically, have incorporated Twitter into their daily work routine. The article, Why teachers are turning to twitter, explains that Twitter allows for educators to expand their platform and connect with other teachers globally. This gives teachers a chance to build connections with other teachers outside of their district, where they can share their knowledge amongst each other that may benefit the classroom. This is extremely important, because this allows for diversity and new perspective to be taught in classrooms around the world. As someone who is going to be entering the education field after college, I see this as a resourceful tool that I plan to use that can better my teaching skills and my future students learning abilities.
Twitter can allow for your professional growth to flourish if you know how to use it to your benefit. As I said before Twitter allows you to connect with others in your specific field by following people and hashtags. But in How to build your PLN on Twitter, it also says that you can connect with others by participating in Twitter chats. Twitter chats are discussions with people from all over, where you discuss a particular topic and you are able to voice your opinion on it. Using this can allow you to voice your opinion and connect with others who may share the same opinion which in the end, will create an opportunity for you to expand your following. When you are able to expand your following and create a reputation on the internet, you are more likely to be noticed and considered valuable to many job opportunities. Twitter is a great place to get connected and to put yourself out there to create a following and open up chances for job opportunities.
