Google Resources to make Your Internet Experience Better

Many of us use Google on a day to day basis to find out information quickly and effectively. But Google offers many free resources that can improve our productivity and experience online. The article, Our 12 Favorite Chrome Extensions, talks about all the free extensions Google offers that can benefit you. One resource that Google offers is the extension called One Tab. One Tab will take every tab that you have opened and put them all in one big list on one page. This allows you to create a more organized internet experience and can result in faster productivity because it will allow you to find the specific tab you are looking for faster. Another extension it covers is the one called 1Password. In this extension you can put multiple log ins and passwords into it and it will save them and put them all in one place for you.  After hearing about this extension, I downloaded it right away because I have a habit of forgetting my passwords and then end up having to reset them. But with this extension it allows me to always know my passwords and logins which will keep me organized. I plan to continue to use this extension throughout my college and professional journey.

Not only are Google Extensions a useful resource, but knowing how to make your google searches more accurate and precise for what you are looking for will allow you to find what you need faster. In 20 Google Search tips to Use Google More Efficiently, it gives you 20 alternatives to help find what you are looking for expeditiously. One tip that was mentioned was to put quotations around what you are looking for, that way the results that you get will only be of relevance to the exact order of the phrase you typed in. Another useful trick to make note of is that by typing two phrases in with the word "OR" in between of them, will allow you to search two things at once. This will cause for the website results to contain either one or both of the phrases you typed into the search engine. A piece of advice that this website gives is to confine your searches and avoid using unnecessary words. This is because Google pick up on every word you type and will look to match those words with other articles which can cause irrelevant articles to end up in your search results. I was not aware of these tricks and tips until now, so I personally have never used them. But as school progresses and more work is being assigned, I intend on using them to help me quickly and efficiently find information for my assignments.

Google also offers another search engine called Google Scholar. In, What is Google Scholar and how do I use it for university, it explains that Google Scholar allows you to search for scholarly literature all in one place. The results that you get may be physical or digital copies of these academic resources. Google Scholar also allows you to create your own library of articles and even helps you with citations for your paper. I have never used Google Scholar before, but it seems like a valuable resource that can help assist in completing written assignments much faster and easier. I definitely plan to use this for future projects, because many of the assignments require you use reliable sources and cite where you got your information from, and Google Scholar offers resources to achieve this requirement.

Overall, Google offers tips and free resources many people don't know about, that allow you to have a faster and more efficient internet experience. Many of these things were new to me and now that I am aware of them I will be using them to aid me in completing my future assignments.

As always, I enjoyed the connections you made from this post and its content into your own life as they helped me see these features in a different light. Great job!
